The year requires a little work. For guns made prior to 1971, teh first two digits of the serial number is the year of manufacture. So 70XXXX would be made in 1970. For guns made 1971-1999, you subtract the first two digits from 2000. Mine begins with 15, so it would have been made in 1985. From 2000-2006 the first two digits corresponds to the year, much like the old system. 01 would be 2001. After 2006, the system has changed yet again. This one I can't speak for as that I naven't gotten/seen enough newer model 60's.

As far as value, if I am a buyer I like to pay $80 or less for a model 60, minus a scope and in excellent condition (no rust, minimal marring of stock and finish). There are enough that I can be choosey about the ones I want. I will pay more sometimes if a scope is included depending upon what it is. If I were to sell one, I would ask $100 without a scope. More if I include a scope. Plus, I would ask more if the stock had ingravings, none of mine do, but my father has one that does.
