I have lost John Charles Crabtree - birthplace unknown but in 1850 he was in Belturbet Cavan Ireland - his son JOHN CHARLES CRABTREE was born there. Baptised March 23rd 1850 John Charles Crabtree Snr was a Private in the 57th Regiment of Foot - so says the Certificate. The next information I gleaned was this his son born in 1850 was enlisted in the same Regiment where he served for 8 months. Thereafter he was delivered back to his mother. There was no mention of his father. I am trying to ascertain what happened to John Charles Snr after 1850 - was he sent to Enniskillen? (Enniskilling) India? Crimea? Australia? or was he dead. Any help would be so gratefully received and thank you.
