Fluorescent lamp

I have just fitted two new fluorescent tubes in my loft. by coming off an existin lighting cable using a junction box however wen turned on the DB tripped. I replaced and tested and everything showed ok, i powered on again, this time the lights came on but when i switched off the DB tripped again...does anyone have any ideas what is causing this??????

If the existing circuit was unused for some time prior to the current install it might just so happen that it had a short to ground and when it was re energized the second time the contact point on the short was broken but then simultaneously made to short again when the light did come on. try disconnecting the wiring at the source and isolate the individual wires so continuity testing can be applied this will ensure that all of the individual wires in the cable are not making contact with each other or with any other conductive materials ie: cable sheathing, boxes,etc.
