I have info that Capt. Peter Van Rensselaer (my ancestor) lived in Kinderhook and m. Jane Fort. I am trying to verify this. I have a reference that she was also of Claverack at the time of her marriage. I am trying to trace her geneology back to her French Hugenot family who fled to Holland and then America, there were three or possibly four brothers who settled in 1600s: Jean le Fort (changed his name to Liberte)settled in Niskayuna, another in Schodack and there is a home near Fishkill that may have been his, and another who settled in Georgia, I have a very old Fort family bible and a chair (cica 1680s) that has come down to me and I am trying to find a home for them, possibly in a musem, need to trace her lineage, help! My parents did a lot of research to get me into DAR but all is Van Rensselaer and I find very little info on NY Fort families. Lots for the Georgia branch.Warmer weather agreed with them I guess.
