I have heard that a typical American Riverboat can float in eight inches of water, and that paddlewheel driver can push a boat in that depth of water. I'm thinking Hal Lindsey would know ( He was a tugboat captain on the Mississippi before he ever entered the ministry) But, regardless, any of this true? -Roy

I'm not sure about the average, but I know that the Mark Twain Riverboat (a replica of the old riverboats of the Mississippi) has a draft of 18 inches.
