I have heard that Daniel Mendoza, the famous boxer from London, had fought in my home town (Dundee) in the mid 1800s. He was Jewish and, judging by his surname, was obviously of Spanish or Portuguese origin. Can you tell me if he lived in the Bevis Marks area of London? Or did he attend the Bevis Marks synagogue? I thank anyone in advance for the answer.

Thanks. I did get some info on Mendoza which was interesting and amusing. So far, I haven't found out where he worshipped or if, indeed, he did worship. But thanks for the information. It was helpful.
