I have been trying to compile a history and map of my Dad's trek through Europe during WWII and have come up against some road blocks. He was in the 4th Canadian Armoured Division within the 8th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment (I believe). However, I cannot seem to find anything regarding the 8th anywhere and am having difficulty connecting his 22nd (Assiniboia)Field Regiment, RCA with it. If anyone has any info or suggestions for help, please let me know. Thanx in advance.

My father was also in 4th Canadian Armoured Division. 22nd Armoured Regiment,Canadian Grenadier Guards. Have you looked to see if someone has written a Regimental History?I found one one the CGG.Google For King and Country, its a TV series put together by Norm Christie covering Canada in WWII.CEF books in Ottawa has a website where you can contact him with questions.

Good Luck

I've been researching my Dad's similar trek as part of 4CAD across Europe. He was with the Headquarters Squadron of the Division, part of the defensive tank troops.
Have you heard of the book Green Route Up? It follows the Division in quite a bit of detail across western Europe and is written from the perspective of the Division's engineers. It is a rare book but your library might be able to borrow a copy (I had to view it in Ottawa at the National Archives).
I would also suggest you obtain microfiche of the War Diary for 8th LAA Regiment (or the 22nd Field Regiment, or whatever formation our father was with).
Try searching the National Archives online for "No. 8 Light AA Regiment", or variations on that name, at the Archives website at: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/lac-bac/search/arch
Also, if you haven't already done so, I'd strongly recommend you request from the archives a copy of your father's records. They can be obtained from the National Archives if you follow the instructions at: http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/genealogy/022-909.007-e.html
Hope this helps and good luck.
