I have been looking to find a US based Carbomer 940 manufacturer, but I have not had any luck as of yet. Does anyone know where I might be able find such a list?

I am really surprised to learn that you are not able to find manufacturer of CARBOMER 940 in US..!!!

Leading genuine manufacturer of CARBOMERS 940 are as follows:

1) Lubrizol (previously Noveon) (USA)
2) SHREE CHEMICALS (INDIA)
3) 3V (ITALY)
4) Sumitomo (Japan)

There are few more names too but they all are re-pakcers and not manufacturer, however they claim that they are manufacturer, which is very surprisingly.

1) RITA Corporation (USA)
2) Synthalene (Spain)
3) Infinitic (Italy)

Hope this will clear your query.

However if you want any further informations on carbomer related products then let me know thru my e-mail: >

Hi Leo1942,

We are currently studying the ‘Thickeners market for Cosmetics’. As a part of the study, we are helping our pharma client (a Fortune 100 company) identify key manufacturers/suppliers for carbomers (a type of thickener), and also giving them key insights on the market. We would appreciate if you could help answer few of our questions below

What are the key thickeners (thickening agents) typically used in the manufacturing of cosmetics, particularly toiletries? Eg: carbomers, gums

During our research, we found that Lubrizol (a global specialty chemical manufacturer) holds a number of key patents for carbomers? Does your firm hold any patents for these carbomers? Are there any other major players (USA/Global) offering ‘carbomers’ to be used as thickeners in cosmetics?

What is the basic production process for the manufacturing of Carbomers? What are the key feedstocks?

In terms of costs involved in manufacturing Carbomers, what according to you typically accounts for majority of the operating expenses
1. Raw materials – Acrylic acid homopolymers
2. Labor Costs
3. Electricity Costs
4. Plant Maintenance Costs

What are the key end-user markets for Carbomers? E.g.: pharma industry, personal care.

I would appreciate if you could spare some time to answer these questions. I would be happy to call you and discuss the above questions at a time convenient to you.

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks and regards,

Piyush Gupta
