Lincoln Park (Chicago)

I have been enjoying beautiful pictures of Lincoln Park, and in particular there is one concrete area with benches, overlooking the pond with a building behind the area, which looks perfect for feeding ducks and geese. The area is near 2642 North Stockton Drive. My question is this: is it legal to feed the waterfowl in that area of the park? Where I live in Pennsylvania, we have a very nice park of our own which has a pond, but it is illegal to feed the waterfowl. I understand that the town doesn't want an excessive number of animals and the mess they can make, but I love the Midwest and personally hope that Chicagoans allow people to throw bread over the fence in the area I have described. If anyone is able to answer my question, I'd appreciate it. I'm writing a novel (not based in Chicago, but with one scene there), and I don't want my character to be breaking the law. She has enough difficulties. Thanks so much to anyone who might respond.
