I have an English Shepherd almost 2 years old. We give her plenty of exercise and thought we socialized her well with other dogs and humans. She is a fantastic dog with everyone she recognizes, but is starting to become a big problem around kids and any person that approaches she does not know.

If we are at the dog park there is no problem...but if a stranger comes to the door or we approach someone on a walk she barks out of control and sometimes lunges. Lately you can tell she is very uncomfortable around little kids and has nipped my nephew when they were running around playing.

I have tried positive re-enforcement, creating games to get her mind working on something else, more exercise, and a strict routine for the day but the barking and manic behavior doesn't seem to be improving.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I live in the surrounding Detroit area and would like to go to trainer who specializes in herding breeds if anyone knows of any.
