I have a sauer and son model 38h pistol with original holster and 2 clips as well as 5 original bullets. the only thing that i dont understand about the gun is that it has clear grips allowing you to see the inner workings of the pistol supposed to the bakelite grips my pistol should have. the serial number is 41690. can anyone tell me why the grips were changed to clear and did something like decrease the value of the gun?

Don't panic...

I'd suggest speaking to an antique and relics dealer. It's possible that the version you have was a sales demonstrator. The ability of potential customers to watch the mechanism cycle the action is useful to showing how well the weapon behaves.

Remember that the inventor of the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) actually threw dirt in the chamber and continued firing so that its ability to take environmental abuse made it a stronger competitor.
