I have a problem with a 1983 Evinrude 35 HP outboard that I can't seem to solve. If anyone can help solve this I would be most thankfull. I have a high speed surge that starts just past 3/4 throttle. When I run at full throttle engine will surge until I pump the primer bulb by hand. When I pump the primer bulb engine will run smoothly or if I return throttle to 3/4 engine will run smoothly. This engine runs perfectly except for this. So far I have overhauled the carb, replaced the fuel pump, replaced the gas tank, lines and connectors. Also I have replaced the thermostat and changed the spark plugs. I would think that this was an ignition problem if it was'nt for the fact that pumping the primer bulb made the engine run smooth. Has anyone had this problem? What was the solution to remedy this situation. Thanks For Your Help!
