I have a first edition copy of A Thurber Carnival. I believe is has an original sketch by Mr. Thurber dated 1945, it is inscribed but not signed;

"Property of Old Dan" ("Leavin' Ft Hood - Tex 1945 - enroute Ft. Riley Kans.)

Depicts a sketch of an army drummer (looks like it is his own likeness) marching in uniform with flowers & grass.
