I have a female Newfie (intact) approximately 2years old, and she began shedding profusely about three weeks ago. She has shed most of her undercoat and continues to shed. Along with this is a flaking of the skin, yet the skin looks healthy. I live in PA where we have had a brutal summer and also have fox on my property...because of this I requested my vet check for scabies...they suggested using the product, "Revolution". She has had two doses at 2week intervals, but the shedding still persists. Her breeder says that her females will shed about 10 weeks after their heat, which would make sense, except that this shedding is so abnormally high. Will see my vet next week and would like some suggestions as to what I should ask her to check...thyroid??? I am looking for related experiences from other Newfie owners.
