I have a 5 year old patient with rotten teeth, negleted...in my opinion, parents both smoke heavily around the child, he recently experienced a rash of epileptic seizures, has hypergammaglobulinemia, fatigued, swollen cheek, palpable non tender mass in the opposite cheek, patient was administered 180 ml of cortisone after the 1st seizure and subsequently suffered 100 more seizures in 24 hours. The parents do not work, and have 6 other children on handicapped welfare for either epilepsy or learning or mental disorders.
I am suspecting not only neglect, but the possibility that the child may have been poisoned. What poisons can cause epileptic seizures with resultant high levels of blood gammaglobulins?
