I have a 2001 cadi Catera and when I put it in drive and start to move forward it will down shift into a lower gear. All the lights on the center console for the shifter lights up P thru 1 gears and the sport light inicator on the dash starts to flash and means the the tranny needs service (looked that part up in the manuel) and service engine light stays on. Is there an easy (cheap) way to fix this, I am going to trade it in as sson as I can temp. fix this issue. Any advice would be appreciated.
