I have FS commando knife,3rd patt handle 27 rib cast alloy, coppered & looks blacked (could be grime!),(have studied under magnifier but can't see die Number on pommel end), 176mm blade that looks pretty good. blade guard is 1/8" steel & is oval & flat. On handle side is stamped "MADE IN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND",& " WILLIAM RODGERS I CUT * MY WAY".The pommel nut is crudely flattened brass nut, as opposed to domed or steel. Overall length 11 5/8". Has original brown leather scabbard,with bit of TLC will come up nice,leg straps have been cut off, brown elastic retainer still attached(has seen better days). 2 rivets hold top part of scabbard on, & 1 rivet fastening 2 1/4" brass chape on,(chape has nicely rounded end).Can find no other marks whatsoever on knife. PLEASE can anyone help with advice on cleaning the knife and scabbard without fear of doing any damage? what is it worth? date? thanks.
