I have 8 5 year old Giant African Snails. The are kept in a consevatory which is warm during the day but cools at night. In the last couple of weeks they seem to be hibernating by burying themselves in the soil and do not eat. When I cleaned the tanks they 'woke up' and ate but are now burying themselves again and some have formed a skin over the shell opening. They have never behaved like this in previous years. Should I leave them to do this?

Well, that was not a helpful reply to my question! They are not pests where I live in England because there are none living in the wild. They would probably not survive in the winter! Mine are well cared for and I am fascinated to see how they live. They would only become pests if allowed to get into the wild and multiply.
