I grew up in Torrance, Ca. I remember the stretch ot Route 1 thru Torrance being signed as "101" and that's what we called it. In High School we'd say "lets go to the A&W on 101". After High school I went into the Army and eventually to Vietnam. When I returned home in the late '60's 101 was signed U. S. Route 1. What happened?
