I googled my paternal grandfather, Roy F. France, Miami, Florida to see what came up. My father is his oldest son, Roy F. France III. I did not know him but my father studied architecture in college and has told me about him and the many hotels in Miami and Chicago he (grandfather) designed. I am 40 years old and saw the Saxony hotel as well as many others on line with him listed as architect, does anyone have any other information about him? I grew up in Jacksonville, where my parents still live, and haven't been to Miami in many years. I currently live in Georgia with my husband. I would love to know more and share it with my father who is 74 on January 8th it would be a nice addition to his birthday. Thank you for ANY INFORMATION.

What a surprise! I stumbled on your inquiry while looking up information about your great grandfather. My name is Bill Moore and I grew up in Miami Springs with you uncle Gregory and uncle Mike. Greg and I learned to swim at the Miami Springs Villas and have known each other since attending Beaver's Academy in kindergarten and first grade. Greg's mother and dad, Roy and Louise were my familie's good friends for many years.Your granddad and g'granddad built numerous hotels in South Beach and your g'granddad was widely considered the major architect on Miami Beach after WWII. Your grandfather earned his arch. degree from Purdue University and was a sargent in the army during WWII.
I lived in Marietta before we moved to Asheville about 14 years ago. Your Uncle Greg lives in Santa Rosa Beach FL and your uncle Mike lives in St. Pete Beach,FL. Louise's sister, Jean lives in Pembroke Pines,FL and is in an assisted living facility. Greg, Mike and your dad had a cousin "Buzz" Mc Cready, Jean's son. He died several years ago, and we were very good friends, in fact, he is the one who convinced me to go to Atlanta. He has a daughter Lauren and son Scott. There mother Betty lives in Tallahasee. I would really like to hear from you if possible.Regards.
