I drink 1/4 to 1/2 cup of my first morning urine, and I have a question about urine, ammonia, and oral health.
I try not to eat or drink for about 20 minutes after imbibing, to let the brew of calming neurotransmitters do their work in my digestive tract (which has beaucoup neurons).
I also hold the urine in my mouth or a few minutes before swallowing.
After those few minutes there's a build-up of ammonia in my mouth (similar to the flavor you get with, say, over-ripe brie).
Is there any reason to think doing this is good for gums, teeth? I'd think it *would* be good to change (for at least a brief time) the pH in the mouth -- acidophilic bacteria are involved in tooth decay. As well, the ammonia build-up seems good for cleaning the teeth, which become very smooth and easy to floss.
There are plenty of anti-bacterial agents promoted for oral health (eg, the alcohol in mouthwashes), but is anyone using alkaline agents to combat bad bacteria in the mouth?
