I disovered the Little House books as a child and tried to remember that they were fiction. I visited her home in Mansfield, MO summer 2009 and got the entire collection of books and have been rereading them. I also read Donald Zochert's autobiography Laura in 1976. While reading On The Way Home, I realized that as Rose was watching her dress to go sign the papers on Rocky Ridge Farm that she said she was wearing her black wedding dress. Why didn't that burn in the house fire on their farm in De Smet? There are also some other things that seemed to have predated the fire that are in existance. Has anyone else ever questioned any of this and found a satisfactory answer?
