I belong to Padmasali caste, Karimnagar dist, AP. My father is no more. According to my father, we belong to Markhandeya Gotram. But some elderly people say that there is no Markhandeya Gotram at all. They say all padmasali people are related to Markhandeya rishi. Who ever do not know they gotram, simply say that they belong to Markhandeya gotram. How can I find my gotram? Is it true that there is no Markhandeya gotram? Is my father wrong? My paternal surmane is 'Kurma'. My father also said that our actual surname was 'katakam' and later it was changed to 'Kurma'. Please advice me to find out my gotram.

this is avvaru srinivas. acording to your surname i.e katakam it is koundilya . if it is kurma VanajalaMaharushi* so please verify with your relatives whether you are belongs to katakam or kurma family

Our initial is cheepuri. could you please tell me my exact gothram in padmashali community...As we dont know the exact gothram we are using Markandeya Gothram for poojas and all.. Can we use like that or not... Please help in this regards
