I attended the grammar school from 1936 to 1943.
Is the old chemistry lab still there in the corner of the field near the hous ?.
Mr Rowlands was our chemistry master and we had some hilarious times sitting on the ancient tiered benches watching his experiments which frequently went wrong. The benches were carved with names going back possibly centuries.
I now live in Congleton, Cheshire but have fond memories of the old school.
Is the swimming pool still there. The water was not filtered. .Every few days Mr Rowlands would tip a demijohn of sodium hypochlorie into it. Mr Stubbs was the sports master and for our first swimming lesson he lined us up feet outwrds on the side of the bath and tipped us in. I could swim within a week.

I am a current pupil at kevigs. Unfortunately the pool is no longer and I don't think the chemistry lab you talk about is either. However i think the school is amazing! We have just recently re-introduced the house system and also prefects, headboy and head girl which works really well. Was the CCF large when you were at our school? Yours, M Robertson
