I ask people why there is a coalition of armed forces in Afghanistan and their reply is that they do not know.(try it) I certainly hope all those young people being daily slaughtered and maimed are made honestly aware of the validity of their sacrifices. I would however advise that their grieving parents refrain from asking anyone ......why? Do you know why?

I suppose "Coalition" refers to the NATO forces in the country. It's a feckless effort by US Diplomats to convince
anybody listening that America has allies who are willing
to fight the good fight along side of us. Horseshit.
US combat troops are in Afghanistan to kill anyone who threatens our interests. Both Bush and Obama have wasted
our magnificent war machine by pandering to the likes
of Karzai. US commanders on the ground know what to do.
Let them do it. They can eliminate Karzai, drug lords,
infiltration from Pakistan border.
Our combat forces are Great. A Marine or a GI doesnt need
to be reminded of sacrifice or his own validity. You understand that when your sworn in, "To defend my country
against enemies, foreign and domestic."
The parents support their sons. You bet. My mother cried
when I left to be inducted. She cried when I went to
Vietnam. She asked my father why does our son have to go.
"Because he's supposed to." That was true then and now.
I have a son in Afghanistan. It's his third tour. He's there
because he's supposed to be. He is an Army Ranger and answers to the President of the United States. Whats a
coalition?
