I am writing a thesis in AP style. I understand the introduction is supposed to be written in the past tense. However, when describing my study area (the elevation range, topography, location, etc.) writing in past tense does not sound correct. These characteristics are still true. Should I be writing these sections in the present tense, or should everything be in past tense within the introduction?
