I am seeking info about Earl Edwin Austin. Put on FBI 10 Most Wanted list in 1979 and arrested in Mar of 1980. I can't find any more info on line from that date on. As he would be almost 70 now I assume he may have died in prison. Seeking info as he is 1st cousin and I am trying to fill in some blanks in my family history.

Hello,
You must be a grandson of Francis Fundom Austin Bibler. My father was Francis's brother Bill Fundom. I don't have time now to go into much detail as I have to get to bed as I get up early in the morning. But for a quick intro I can say he seems to have dropped out of sight after his arrest in 1980 as stated in his wikipedia entry. I did find a news story from Florida telling about his conviction on 3 bank jobs that led to that arrest. I will get back to to you later this week if I can and this weekend at the latest My email is bfundom@gmail.com. Later,Bill

I was friends with Earl in Prison in 1977. I was just looking online myself to see what became of him. He was a fun guy to hang around with and a better person than his criminal record would indicate.

He was quite clever and a very good chess player. He was always working on a plan for another prison break. He was working on a book that I think would have been quite interesting but I'm afraid it never got published.

Why don't you contact me by email. I think I can fill you in a bit about your grandmother Frances. My father, her brother Bill, took his family out west and the rest of his family stayed in the east. email me at bfundom@gmail.com

I am a little Pensive about giving out too much information to people online. I would want to know how you are related and maybe a little qualifying information. But please don't take this the wrong way. Earl did not keep the best company, so I hope you would understand.
Thanks

I can certainly understand. I am actually a LOT apprehensive about asking especially where Earl is concerned. I lived his past and it wasn't a pretty one! My mother is Earl's sister (he was my uncle) and we went through quite a traumatic time with the FBI while Earl was on the run so I certainly am not looking to relive that nightmare. 30 years later that past is behind us and better left there. But for that same period of time there has been no closure. The last we knew of Earl was that he was in an internal witness protection program within the federal prison system. She has been curious as to Louis's whereabouts but realizes he could have found her if he desired. He was last in FL I believe. I'm truly not seeking any more information than if either or both are deceased. Thank you for even responding and your help if possible.

Hello Cousin. You must be Nancy's son. I am Louie's son. My father has wondered about Nancy's whereabouts and well being. He and I have tried to find out information on a couple of occasions about Her. We have been unsuccessful until now. You are the closest we have gotten so far. I am currently on the phone with Louie and he wants pass on that he is doing well. He owns a small 60 acre farm north of Kansas City. He has three children, Keith, Louis, and Ben. He also has 6 grandchildren, ages 20 years down to 2 years.
As for Earl, we believe he died in prison around 1998. I have letters from him that he had written to my mother from prison. I also contacted the FBI and received an electronic version of his "Wanted Poster".
I also have been in contact with some of the Fundoms. He gave me a short genealogical run-down on that side of the family.
As for my family, my wife, two children and myself, recently relocated to the Denver area. The Biblers are all still very close and spend a great deal of time together, until we moved to Denver, that is. Everyone else is still in Kansas City.
I have always been very curious about family on my fathers side. The last time he spoke to Nancy was mid to late 80's I believe. Any update on the well being of your side would be appreciated. Louie has often thought about her and seems, in my opinion, to regret the lost connection to his sister. He is much different now than he was in that time period.
Thank You.
