I am researching the past of my wife's family and I'm trying to trace her grandads war history. We think he signed up along with his brother-in-law in Rotherham Yorkshire. However, his brother in law was killed on the Somme and was part of the 24th battalion the Tyneside Irish brigade. Wife's grandad was called Thomas Murphy so there must be a chance he joined the tyneside Irish. The question is how do I find out if Thomas Murphy enlisted with the Tyneside Irish.
