I am researching genealogy on James Bullen First Secretary of the Province of NEW JERSEY and Robert VauQuellan (alias La Priere,La Prairie)first Surveyor-General of the Province of NEW JERSEY. They were under Governor Carteret under the proprietorship of Carteret and Berkeley. I am wondering if the two above had anything to do with the Isle of Jersy since they were appointed by James II of England formerly James Duke of York 1660 until after his brother Chas II also of England died.

Looking at LemPrieri could LaPriere be a name alteration? Most of the LemPrieri left about 1668 or so. What happened?

Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
