Fort Caroline

I am reading a book called "Gone are the last days(1960)" by Harnett T. Kane.
He says that Fort Caroline was established alone the South Carolina Coast. All current Internet discussions say it was established at Jacksonville, Fla. Which it is there now.
But Can he be that mistaken?
