I am looking for my distant relatives in Berg, Norway. I live in the United States, and I understand that my great-great grandmother was from Berg on the north cape. I believe their last name was Hole or Hoel. I know that they were a strong presence in the town, owned a store, were in the fishing industry, and dried cod and sent it to Russia. We have heard that they were extremely successful and basically "owned" the town of Berg. Other family names are Oveland and Jacobsen...but I believe they were from the Arendal area in the south. It is my understanding that the Berg group moved south and met the Oveland and Jacobsen group. There is a possibility that the Oveland group was also from the north. Can anyone help me connect with my relatives in Norway????
