I am learning Mandarin.

I can type the Chinese characters in Windows Word but need to show the pinyin equivalent above or below them (with tone marks) as my ability to recognize the characters on their own is limited.

Words will allow me to do that but it is rather limiting and cumbersome.

My question is "Is there another program anywhere that is more versatile?". Freeware is fine but I'm happy to pay for it.
