Saham Toney

I am extremely intrigued by a large circular lake or mere situated in the village of Saham Toney in Norfolk, UK. At least, it's large for the county of Norfolk; but apart from oft-quoted excerps from Kelly's and Whites directories, I can find no in-depth information about the strange fish that have supposedly inhabited this body of water, apparently since the last ice age. We read, tantalisingly, about two types of eel. One that tastes delicious, and the other that tastes vile and is as ugly as sin.
Do these unique eels still thrive there?
Apart from pike, what else live or lived in the lake?
Do any photographs or drawings exist of them?
Why is the lake considered dangerous?
Is it very deep, or what?
Was the lake a giant ice age Pingo peculiar to Norfolk?
Yes, I know the lake has always been in private hands, but why is so little information readily available?
