Coral snake

I am an American that now lives in Costa Rica. I found a snake in my yard that I thought was a bicolored coral snake. It was red and black and around a foot. I took pictures of this snake when it was coiled in the yard. Not wanting what I thought was a venomous snake so close to the house and animals, I captured it and released in a heavily wooded area near a stream. When the snake was all stretched out, the red red rings were much thinner than the black. It was only then that I noticed a very pale yellow, almost white that was on the bottom of the red rings on the snake. I've relocated 3 central American coral snakes from my yard before, and they look nothing like this snake. I have photos of this snake coiled and when he was moving away at the time of release. I'd like to know if someone could identify this snake. I can't find this in any of my Costa Rican snake books. Help!
