I am a direct decendent of an Alexander Greig and a Samuel Greig, of Dundee, Scotland (born late 1700's). They were ship captains and eventually emigrated to the US (New York), where Alexander Greig became invovled in the railroad sector. Were the Greigs a large family in the late 1700's and could there be a link with the Admiral Greig family of Inverkeithing? Thanks in advance for any guidance or suggestions to research this.
