I am a chemist, so not quite familiar with optics. My question is: how is it possible to make a simple (two lenses) and compact objective (thin) to be set just before the eye, like with eye-glasses, able to magnify not very distant objects (around 5 meters - 15 feet)? The magnification required is around 1.2.
I know it is possible to obtain such a magnification with one lens, but it must be set 2-3 inches away from the eye.
