I always heard that the Proto Indo-European homeland was in the Kuban River valley just north of the Caucasus in the South Russia Isthmus. Now some are saying that it was farther north, or even near the South Urals. The Kuban River valley is the site of the Kurgan Culture, which most people associate with the first Indo-Europeans when they were one people. Why would people think that they originated anywhere else?
