I have been a faithful follower of Midsomer for years in the USA and since I returned back here. I was angry, hurt and very disappointed at this Wednesday's episode. There was a drunken priest with a Northern Ireland accent, referred to by the bishop in the piece as of Irish background who said he was stupid and meddlesome. The priest asked the boy to go to confession when he suspected him of murder or his drug habit,the boy said the priest could tell on him which is an absolute no-no for a priest, automatic excommunication and referral to the Pope. The older nun recognised that boy and his G/F and stole his trousers and the reason was revealed later. The nun went to demand two million pounds sterling from the boy's father for the convent because she knew him from Africa as a young woman. The whole aura of the convent scenes, including the habits/dress of the nuns and local references to that scary place and funeral for the nun were absolutely insulting and it showed the bigotry and ignorance we got from the UK media in the last century. Never ever pull a hateful ignorant stunt like that again please. It was so unworthy of the series and the station. Adding to the horror was the fact that the priest's name was the same as a dear close relative.
