If the universe is closed like a sphere, then eventually it will have no further room to expand, and collapse in on itself in a Big Crunch.

If the universe is open, then expansion will continue, accelerating as it is unchecked by gravity, until the universe either experiences a Big Freeze or a Big Rip.
