How far is the Montparnasse area of Paris (or Boulevard du Montparnasse) from
Montagne Sainte-Geneviève? Are they both part of the Left Bank?
I was informed that the hill Montparnasse was named by students in the 17th century (after Mount Parnassus--home of poetry, music, learning) who came to recite poetry, but was levelled to construct the Boulevard Montparnasse in the 18th century. In general, I'm looking for any information between Montparnasse and Montagne Sainte Geneviêve going back to the 12th century, when the Paris schools were famous for their learning.
Any information along this line would be greatly appeciated.
