Not really. It is possible as much as new islands are formed every now then in the seas.

Since there is no official record of it, there would be no way of knowing if it is in the fiirst place credible information.

You are right it would be incredible particularly so if as some believe it was a Continent. No so much if it were an island but still hard to swallow. However I believe Plato, through (Solon) said it was a city backed by a plain. So I think we are talking only of the city here.
