I was in Jr High School in Jacksonville Florida. I remember the announcment over the page system from the principal.
I remember the teacher (math) was very upset but it didn't sink in for me until later. The TV coverage was continuous but I did not see the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald on Sunday morning as I was not that involved, I was a 12 year old kid interested in baseball and football.
I've since spent a lot of time researching. Things happened very differently than what we were told.

In 1963, there was no cable, no internet, even with radio and television, communication was slow and not instant like it is today.
Nov 22, 1963 was a Friday, and I was 10-years-old and in the 6th grade in Philadelphia. The events that happened in Dallas occured at 1:30pm Eastern time. We had just returned to our classroom after a gym class. Our teacher sent a boy down to the basement to empty our trashcan. A few minutes later he returned and announced, "I just heard that President Kennedy's been shot in the head on the janitor's radio."
No one wanted to believe him. Our teacher, Mr. Clarke, wanted no nonsense, so he settled the class down and continued with our lessons ending with the 3:00pm bell.
This was elementary school, so no announcement was made. They probably didnot want to upset the students.
I ran home to tell my mom what I had heard and she confirmed the report.
Earlier that afternoon, she had been trying to make some phone calls and could only get a busy signal. Finally she dialed the operator to report a problem with the phone.
The operator said, "Honey, our phone lines have been jammed ever since the news that the president's been shot."
Television coverage was very limited in those days. There were only three networks: ABC, NBC, and CBS and they were all reporting the same story with the limited resources they had.
It was a very shocking weekend. Since that ill-fated day, no U.S. President has been permitted to travel in a topless limousine.

It was a drizzly-rainy afternoon on Friday .My fifth gradeclass were lining up to return to class after noon recess when our principal appeared on the playground and informed the three teachers and all of us at the same time. Some teachers wereopenly crying .We werein stunned silence. It was the beginning of a long and bitterly cold weekend that lead to a very somber Thanksgiving. We spent most of our time glued to our televisions. All normal programming ended and we were watching news until after the funeral.
