Hi everybody! I'm new to this site and discussion forum, having learned about it just today. My question is, after having read some of your info., could I have had any Muslim/North African/Middle Eastern ancestors in my geneological background? My paternal grandparents and great-grandparents all went to the USA from Sicily, from Cerda near Caltanisetta, to be exact. I've always thought that there might be some Jewish background as well, but after having done some research on both my maternal and paternal sides of the family, nothing has come up Jewish so far. Is there anybody who could help me, or least show me the way to somehow find out the answers, please? I'd be really grateful, so thanks a lot for any help in this matter.
In such Mediterranean cultures there was a melding of cultures and ethnicities that can make anything possible! A very plural, open and cross-cultural society had tremendous development in science, art, economics, etc. that was the cause of the European Renaicense! Somehow this ended and haterd, wars, selfishness, intolerance, etc. flooded that area of Europe afterwards!
