Hi! My Dad bought a, then new, 1985 1 oz. gold Maple Leaf coin. Is there any way to figure out how much he bought it for in 1985? What the value was in 1985? what is the value today? Thanks.

It is hard to say exactly but it can me estimated.
Gold spot during 1985 was $285 - 342 US/OZ.
1 OZ maple is normally sold with 8% commision.
so you Dad could have bought it from $310 to $370 US.
If you are in Canada multiply those numbers by 1.35 - that was avarage exchange rate in 1985.
