Hi All, Can anyone give me some advise ASAP, before I go and buy this item.
I own a 1939 8 series E and what with the original engine giving up on me last year, I decided to buy a second hand replacement, described as 'good condition'. Fitted this engine and it turned out to be almost as bad as the original. (ends and mains clattering and breathing like a dragon).
I have found yet another complete engine BUT this is from a series 1 eight, (garanteed good this time)
I am aware that this will fit in the bay and that the oil filler is at the front instead of the side but beyond this I need advise.
Can I use my carb,exhaust,will I need any special top hose,will it fit my gearbox, will the E clutch fit straight on to the series 1 flywheel. Will the dynamo fit straight on, etc etc. I also notice the HT cap has top outlets for the leads on the 1, where the E has side outlets.
Any advise will be appreicated.
