Hi All,

I have a 1975 shadow which has been standing for the last 6 years in a well ventilated shed. It was a bit of a problem to start but it is ok now.
The problem I have is the brakes, or the lack of them they do not work whatsoever and all the lights on the dash are all lit up although the resevoir is full up.
Admittedly I havent taken the wheels of yet to inspect them.
Please can you shed a little light on the matter

best regards

Phil.

Phil,

Check and see if all the wiring is plugged into your master/break reservoir. If it is then I would start off by removing the wiring that plugs into the master cylinder. They just slide off tho it may be more difficult if they haven't been removed in some time. Just be careful not to break or crack the plastic clip. After you remove them (I am not sure how many there are, should be at-least two one for either side) clean the terminal on both sides with a little piece of sand paper. Reattach the wires and see if it they still light up.

What lights are on? Are they low fluid or low pressure? If they are low pressure then you have a larger issue with the braking system.

To get the pressure up you may need to pump the breaks several times until they kick in. I'd remove the caps from the reservoir and pump them a bunch of time and then try your breaks. If this doesn't help post me an update and well try some more things.
