My partner, Sarah and i, (Paul) are living in Panama and taking care of a young Northern Owl Monkey. (Aotus Trivirgatus). Doodle is now about nine months old and came to us when he was two months old, we think. We live close to his natural habitat where he was abandoned by his family. He was very sick then, but glad to say he's strong and full of energy now!!
If anyone can help us with any experiences or advice we would be very grateful.
Two questions.
Doodle has a strong desire to bite the ends of our fingers. It's a nibble really but it can escalate. He mostly wants to do this when he gets tired and he is very insistent. He seems to need to do it. He doesn't bite that hard but his teeth are very sharp and we don't have the hair his family would. It's not really play fighting...it's more focussed.
Also, he is very scared of people coughing, mostly Paul. Thunder and fireworks etc don't bother him, but coughing sends him to the highest spot instantly. Sneezing too, but not so much! Any ideas!?
