I’m trying to model an open channel system which discharges via a culvert with a flapgate into the sea using HEC-RAS v4.1.0. I want to do an unsteady flow analysis when the open channel system has an inflow hydrograph and the sea has a hydrograph including several tidal cycles. I’m having problems working out how to model the flapgate – it seems you can include a flapgate on a culvert when this is a lateral structure, but not when it is on the main channel. Advice please.
