Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a press for intaglio printmaking (copper plates). I'm looking for a small press, which is not too expensive. What models do you recommend? I live in Denmark.

If you google "proof presses" there are only a couple models availible. All work well, the best way to decide is whichever has the lowest price for your needs. Usually the width of the bed is what constricts the types of prints you can make.

I know that this is an old post, so you probably bought your press by now. Maybe this will help someone else, if you have already found your press. What you want is an intaglio press. In the strict sense, proofing presses are good for relief, but intaglios require more pressure. If you want to go with highest quality, try Takach presses. They have a very smooth mechanism, but the downside is that they may be costly. A less expensive brand is carried by Dick Blick. It's good if you are on a strict budget, but personally, it lacks the heft that I like in a printing press. Probably a middle of the line product would be best for you. Look up Conrad press co. I like the fact that they have durability and yet break down for easier transport. Hope this helps.
