I am a Biochemist and my interest is on cancer therapy in molecular level. from this molecular treatments of cancer inhibitors of apoptotic protein (IAP) are the target, specifically survivin. Current reports and researches showed that by changing the amino acid sequence of survivin protein , it is possible to convert or change the survivin from anti-apoptotic to apoptotic by single amino acid substitution. From this mutants the well known is the Survivin-T34A; that means threonine at position 34 on the survivin protein substituted by Alalnine.
What is the special thing or activity of Alanine to change this unbelievable events? what is it mechanisms of action to convert the antiapoptotic rtotein to apoptotic?
